The Barcelona 2014/15 home shirt is one of the most celebrated football kits of the modern era. Nike made it for Luis Enrique’s first season in charge. That season ended with a historic Treble. In this guide, we look at the design of the shirt and the story of the season that made it famous.

The Barcelona 2014/15 Home Shirt: Design and Details

Nike returned to a bold, traditional look for this kit. Previous seasons had used experimental gradient patterns. This shirt brought back wide vertical Blaugrana stripes in red and deep blue.

The sleeves are rich blue raglan sleeves with dark navy cuff tipping. The ribbed V-neck collar has a triangular Catalan Senyera flag insert at the throat. Inside the neckline, you will find the club motto “Més que un club” and the founding year of 1899.

The chest carries an embroidered club crest over the heart. An embroidered white Nike Swoosh sits on the right chest. Qatar Airways, the principal partner, appears across the centre of the torso. In addition, the shirt has a UNICEF print on the lower back and a Beko logo on the sleeve.

How the 2014/15 Season Unfolded

Luis Enrique took over in the summer of 2014. The start was not smooth. Barcelona lost to Real Sociedad in early January, and doubts grew around the new manager.

However, the team recovered quickly. They hit top form and never looked back. By the end of May, they had won three major trophies.

Where Barcelona Finished in La Liga

Barcelona won La Liga with 94 points. Real Madrid finished second on 87 points. Along the way, Barça scored 110 league goals. They sealed the title with a 1-0 home win over Atlético Madrid on 17 May 2015.

Top Goalscorer and the MSN Trio

Lionel Messi was the club’s top goalscorer. He scored 58 goals in all competitions, including 43 in La Liga. Neymar Jr added 39 goals. Luis Suárez joined from Liverpool that summer and scored 25.

Together, the trio known as MSN scored 122 goals. Many fans still call it the greatest attack in football history. Meanwhile, Iván Rakitić, Andrés Iniesta and Sergio Busquets controlled the midfield behind them.

The Champions League Run to Berlin

Barcelona topped their group ahead of Paris Saint-Germain. Then they beat Manchester City 3-1 on aggregate in the last 16. Next, they knocked out PSG 5-1 over two legs in the quarter-finals.

The semi-final brought a 5-3 aggregate win over Bayern Munich. Messi scored two memorable goals in the first leg at Camp Nou. As a result, Barça reached the final in Berlin.

On 6 June 2015, Barcelona beat Juventus 3-1 at the Olympiastadion. Rakitić, Suárez and Neymar scored the goals. Neymar also finished as joint top scorer in the competition with 10 goals, level with Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Copa del Rey and a Historic Treble

One week before Berlin, Barcelona won the Copa del Rey. They beat Athletic Club 3-1 in the final at Camp Nou. Messi scored a stunning solo goal on the night.

That win completed the Treble. It was the second Treble in the club’s history, after 2008/09. Barcelona became the first European club to win two. It was also the final season for club captain Xavi Hernández. For full season statistics, see the 2014/15 FC Barcelona season overview.
